Historical Parade of Turks
Since 2013, Boom! has been participating in the Historical Parade of the Turks that takes place in Potenza every year on May 29th as one of the most important events dedicated to San Gerardo, the Patron saint of the town.
A few students - especially drummers and percussionists - coming from this association along with their teachers, who are also professional musicians, founded the “Group of musicians of the historical parade of the Turks”. They follow the parade throughout the Potenza historical centre playing mainly 2-voice compositions (Tympani and Snare drum) which recall the ancient rolls of the war drums typical of the second half of the XVI century.
All this is extremely impressive also because the musicians studied how to use the drumsticks in order to give as faithful a performance as possible according to tradition. Not to mention the use of traditional costumes such as velvet jackets and woollen leggings to protect our musicians from the stiff breeze of the end of May(!)
